Website: Changes in Progress

Over the next week or so, the site may change in appearance (content will remain unchanged).   I have attempted, semi-successfully, to add BuddyPress to my WorldPress installation.    Most features are online (forums, friends, private messaging), but having the devil’s own trouble with groups and profiles (both work fine in live preview, but show as blank pages in published mode) regardless of the theme I use for the site.

So, I may be cycling through themes, turning features off an on (files and posts will always remain on) and other assorted examples of techno-frustration as I try to get those features online.

The Gamemaster

A role-playing gamer / gamemaster since D&D / AD&D. Took a ‘brief’ hiatus from RPG gaming starting around the time AD&D 2e released in 1989 but came back to the hobby.

Groups inBuddyPress is a no-go. When activated, it caused the profile edit button to take you to the forums instead of the edit page. Also, it would not correctly set up a group forum, instead just showing you the forum root tree. So with this in mind, I considered user profile, user images and private mail to enough of a win and just disabled.

Personally, I blame 1and1, my hosting, as it works fine in Live Preview, but fails hard when published and activated, indicating they jacked something up in my WP install last December/January.
